Policies for In Person Classes during COVID-19

Waiver must be completed before your first class.

Omaha Jitterbugs has worked hard to balance the safety of our students with our passion for dancing together in person.  We have taken the following steps in good faith to protect our students and participants.  

  1. All students must pre-register at Studio Bookings. No drop-in students will be allowed.
  2. All students must pre-pay for classes at Studio Bookings so no one has to handle cash or credit cards.
  3. All students and teachers must wear a properly worn mask at all times.  The mask must cover your nose and your mouth snugly.
  4. No one who has tested positive for COVID-19 or has been in contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19 will be allowed to participate.
  5. If you have symptoms of COVID-19, do not participate in class.
  6. When you arrive for class, you will be required to 
    • sign a waiver that you do not have symptoms, you are feeling well, and you will include contact information (name, phone number or e-mail) for contact tracing purposes.  These will be destroyed two weeks after the date on the waiver.
    • Wear a mask. We will provide a mask if you forget yours.
    • Sanitize your hands.  
    • If you refuse to do any of these, you will be asked to leave.
  7. All classes will be for solo dancing or dancing with a person you are isolating with.  You will not rotate dance partners.
  8. No visitors can accompany you to class.
  9. The dance floor will be clearly marked off in personal dance spaces.  Each student must stay in their dance space. 
  10. All windows will be open during class with the fans circulating air.
  11. Classes are limited to 13 students, with 2 teachers, and 15 total people in the space.  
  12. If you set personal items on a table or chair, or if you sit in a chair, you must wipe down those areas with the provided sanitizing supplies before you leave.
  13. Tables will be separated 6 feet apart or X’s will be placed on tables that cannot be used.
  14. Bring your own water or drink.  Water jugs will not be provided.
  15. If you use the restroom, please follow the guidelines posted on the restroom door.
  16. After each evening of class, the teachers will sanitize all high-touch areas:  door handles, bathroom sinks, toilet handles, paper towel dispensers, the table by the door, etc.
  17. If a student or teacher tests positive for COVID-19 once class has begun, all groups in which that person has been in contact with will be notified immediately.  The class(es) in which the affected person has participated in will be moved to Zoom for the remainder of the month.  
  18. If you find out you were exposed to someone who tested positive for COVID-19, email us at jitterbugs@jitterbugs.org as soon as possible so we can notify your classmates and teachers.  Class will continue in person while you wait for test results.  If you receive a positive test result for COVID-19, you must email us so we can move class(es) to online.
