Dance Class Etiquette
It’s a Learning Environment: Be supportive of everyone’s learning. People have different learning styles and speeds.
Listen Up: Don’t talk while the teacher is teaching; you might miss valuable information and so will the person you are talking to.
Feedback: Don’t teach during class if you’re not the teacher. Do ask for and give information about how a move feels or about what you need from your partner to make a move work. That hand-hold feels good. I’d like more connection on my back. This is especially true if something feels rough, unsafe, or painful.
Ask Questions: if things aren’t feeling right for you or your partner, ask for help; often your question will help the whole class.
Shoes and Attire: Wear clothes and shoes that are comfortable. The best kind of shoes to wear are shoes that have less traction on the bottom.
